Wishing a happy holiday to all of my Peeps! I hope you get a chance to play in your scraproom today. I'm hoping to... but I have no AC there and it is HOT today!!! I'm hoping to get a couple things cut and maybe grab some supplies and play in the cool in front of a good movie. Hope you are staying cool... the weatherman didn't look like he had any good news for anybody on the whole map! Hugs and Kisses! Sondra I am so incredibly proud of myself... I DID IT!!! 7 layouts in 7 days all about myself!
Today's prompt was "I Wish" which was wonderful as I got a chance to use a brand new die!!! I think I may make one minor change. Most of this was done on Microsoft Word. I think the next time I have pictures printed, I will have the one on top made and layer it over the top of the layout. Other than that, I like it! I used a couple little pieces of patterned paper (AGAIN!), some bling, 5 colors of Stickles, and some Glue n Seal. Today's prompt was "I Believe". I used my favorite of our wedding photos. This was immediately after the ceremony. We were the first to get to the vestibule, and I wanted to fix his boutonniere before anyone else arrived. I was repinning it to hide the pin head, keeping an eye on the door for anyone coming, when the photographer, who had sneaked out a different door caught our attention and snapped this photo. It wasn't posed... it wasn't a candid shot of us looking off somewhere else. It was just us.
I still can't believe it was twenty years ago... and that I have lived knowing this man for half of my life. What a wonderful ride. Day Four done! The prompt for today was "I See". I have had this picture on the bookshelf for some time. I've always really loved it, but it didn't fit into the Paul Bunyan layout that I did for that year. I am glad now that I waited. I used Microsoft Word to put the picture in the middle and used some fabric labels, Tim Holtz pins, crocheted frame, and two layers of vellum alpha stickers. Oh, and I hadn't stitched on anything all week, so I was overdue!
I was a lucky child. I grew into adulthood with all four of my grandparents. They all saw me graduate and get married and have my baby. I have very happy memories of these wonderful people. Baling hay with Granny and Gramps are some of the best and strongest memories of them. I have no pictures of the event that would occur several times throughout the summer. So I found a picture online, fuzzed it, canvased it, and journaled over it. Here are some of the memories of working in the hay...
Today’s prompt was “I Love” with the thought to do a layout about something you love that you haven’t really scrapped about before. I love my family, both collectively and individually, but that is all over the place in my pages. So is my being silly, but I’m not really sure I’ve said why before. I like this picture. Miss Thing and I were holding places for a photo-shoot. I was looking at one photographer, when the other snapped this one. I was happy and smiling a genuine smile with my mini-me by my side. I actually combined a couple challenges together. The sketch and color combo were from another site. And my own little personal challenge to use more patterned paper. This is actually from a Christmas collection, but the colors were just perfect! Some cardstock, a couple of my favorite border punches, a piece of tape, four brads, and a whole bunch of things going on printed from Word onto a transparency and TA-DAAAHHH!!!! A layout. I’m two for two on this layout a day thing. Aren’t you proud, my Peeps??? I joined a weekly challenge of sorts: Lain Ehmann's Your Story Matters. A layout a day for seven days about.... me. The first one was "I feel". I had a LOT of ideas for this one, but my darling husband supplied "Sexy" and I knew I had to do a layout about how much fun I have with this song. It was a fast layout. It was a digi layout. But it was a fun layout!
The journaling is: This is currently one of my favorite songs. It is by a funky band called LMFAO. I love to burst into the line “I’m sexy and I know it!” with a little hip shake. It NEVER fails to get an eye roll from Shannon… which makes me laugh. and I copied the lyrics. I did it in Microsoft Word, which is easy for me.... until it came time to load it and I needed a JPEG. Please excuse the fuzziness and the red squiggley lines. I'm Sexy, I'm not Perfect! It is taking me a while to finish this layout. I am having lots of fun playing with it, and wanted to share a peek with you. I am die-cutting shapes from Shrinky Dinks and putting names on them with colored Sharpies. I love Shrinkies and haven't played with them for a few projects... so I was due. And the coonskin cap is one of three felt hats that will be on this layout. The background is made with PATTERNED PAPER (can you believe it, my Peeps???) ripped into pieces, glued down with matte Glue N Seal and brushed with a wash of white paint. It is colorful without being overpowering. And the lace washi tapes in red and blue are so much fun! I won't be getting the picture I need to finish this layout for a couple more weeks. But once I get everything done on this that I can, I have another Challenge to start on that should go fast. So I'll have some eye-candy for you in the not-too-distant future. Hugs and Kisses to all my Peeps! See you soon. The title makes me smile! After the huge rush of being linked to Craft Gossip, I have a renewed desire to scrap. I've really enjoyed the challenges that my friends and I have been working on, so when I found the monthly challenge over at My Creative Sketches (http://mycreativesketches.blogspot.com/2012/05/mays-sketch.html), I decided to give it a try. The most difficult part for me, my Peeps, was the lack of a journaling block. However to manage a page without carrying on for half of it??? Well, I remembered this picture. There really isn’t a story behind it other than what is there… We saw a cool vehicle. We stopped. Mark took my picture with it. Some bright cardstock, vellum, a smidgen of the scary patterned paper and we are nearly there! I found some pictures of Scooby and the Gang and printed them out, made some die cuts, and a title with mounted and cut-out alpha stickers, and tah-DAH! One of the fastest layouts that I have done in a while. And still cute. And again with the stitching! I really don’t know why I’ve been stitching so much lately. Must be a phase. Again, I didn’t have the “right ribbon”, so I dyed some a light orange to pick up the color from the circle and journaling. And to get the funky crumply look from the sketch, I thought of stitching. And if you’re gonna stitch, you might as well stitch. Right, Beloved Peeps??? A birthday card for my Mother-In-Law. I found a cross-stitch pattern on-line, poked the holes, found a series of pinks embroidery flosses, and started stitching. I cut the flip design by cheating the edge on my Big Shot Pro with a circular Lifestyle die, the same size as the circle that I cut from the black stitched cardstock. I then added clear and pink flourishes and some flowers cut from Build A Lilac Sizzix die. I layer two large flowers under two small ones and put a big black brad through them and glued them on with a drop of Gloo. Here are some pictures of the inside and some close-ups of the stitching, flower, and sentiment. I really like the style of this card and will have to do more this way. Not to mention how much I loved the bling and the pink and black. Expect to see more of these in the future, my Peeps!!! |
